Intro: Inge joined our firm in 2022 and uniquely serves our clients as an insurance law attorney. His practice areas include insurance bad faith, personal injury, admiralty & maritime law, economic & complex litigation, and business litigation. He is a well-seasoned attorney in his field with years of experience in these practice areas. He began his career doing civil litigation at Johnstone, Adams, Bailey, Gordon & Harris, LLC. In 2000, he became a Senior Litigation Associate at Balch & Bingham LLP. Here he practiced in the litigation section and represented firm banking and litigation clients in complex and commercial litigation. Six years later, he took a position as an associate at the Lamb Firm. This job allowed Inge to travel the country, taking depositions and participating in court hearings. Inge went on to open his own practice, The Law Offices of F. Inge Johnstone, in 2008. After over six successful years, Inge partnered with Matt Carroll and founded Johnstone Carroll. They practiced law together for eight years.

Background: Inge graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science in 1995. He went on to receive his J.D. from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1998, graduating cum laude. In school, Inge was involved in the Alabama Law Review and received the honors of Highest Grade in Civil Procedure, Maritime Law, and Decedent’s Estates & Trusts. He considers his grandfather his greatest influence. He retired from Bender Shipping in Mobile and taught Inge that “if you tell someone that you are going to do something, then you do it” He also considers his dad, who served on the Alabama Supreme Court, a great influence in his life. “He taught me to stand up for what is right even if it isn’t popular.”

Inge's “Why”: “My grandfather had a ship supply business in the 1950s. Unfortunately, it wasn’t insured, and it burned to the ground. He had to start his whole working life over again. This is the position in which people who have insurance claims wrongfully denied find themselves. They are undergoing one of the toughest times in their lives and find that their trusted safety net was nothing but an empty promise. I do what I do because it is what my grandad would want me to do.”
